SEATTLE — Power has been restored to nearly all Seattle City Light (SCL) customers who had an outage Wednesday night due to an issue with its underground electrical vault.
According to Seattle Fire, crews were responding to reports of smoke from the underground electrical vault at Fremont Ave. N and N. 107th Street.
Crews found no active fire but took the system offline in order to safely access the equipment.
The most impacted areas were in north Seattle, in the Victory Heights and Northgate neighborhoods.
The outage initially impacted over 4,000 customers, but shortly after it was reported, nearly 22,000 customers were without power as of 8 p.m.
By 10 p.m., only about 1,000 customers were left without power. By 3 a.m., SCL reported that all power had been restored.
